EAKI holds second graduation ceremony

A group photo of the graduates and officials from the Ministry of Health, East African Kidney Institute and the College of Health Sciences during the institute's 2nd graduation ceremony.

The East African Kidney Institute (EAKI) at the College of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi held its second graduation on 6th December, 2016.

The graduands were the second batch of students who undertook renal preceptorship certificate courses at the institute. The  short courses sponsored by the Africa Development Bank and the Ministry of Health for the period September to December 2016 were:-

  • Preceptorship in Dialysis for Physicians and Medical officers
  • Preceptorship in Renal Nursing for Nurses
  • Preceptorship in Renal Nutrition for Nutritionists
  • Preceptorship in Renal Pharmacy practice for Pharmacists
  • Preceptorship in Renal Laboratory Science for Laboratory Technologists
  • Preceptorship course in Dialysis Access

The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Peter Gichangi who represented CHS Principal, Prof. Isaac Kibwage.

In attendance were Mary Matu from Angelica medical supplies, Dr. Estella Waiguru from the Ministry of Health, Prof. Peter Mungai, Director of EAKI, and his deputy Dr. Antony Were.

The preceptees were advised to go back to their various counties and apply the knowledge gained so as to improve renal patient care at their different service points.
