Kitui County urology conference

The Kenya Association of Urological Surgeons held a conference in Kitui County.

The various hospitals where surgeries were done were at the Kitui County Referral Hospital, Mutumo Mission Hospital, Jordan Hospital, and Mwingi Sub County Hospital.

The Annual Scientific Conference was held on the 25th to 26th February, 2021 at the Park Side Villa Hotel.

EAKI sponsored both student and staff to the conference.

Over 300 kidney experts trained at UoN

The University of Nairobi has trained more than 300 experts for dialysis units in all the 47 counties.

In addition 30 medics have also been trained for Kenyatta National Hospital and the private health care providers.

All these practitioners were trained at the East Africa Kidney Institute (EAKI) based at the College of Health Sciences.

EAKI set to roll out postgraduate program in renal nutrition

 

The East African Kidney Institute (EAKI) at the University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences is in the process of rolling out a postgraduate program in renal nutrition.

The Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (Renal Nutrition) program is in its final stage of approval.

Prof. Jaoko honoured for role in fight against HIV/AIDS

Prof. Walter Jaoko, Director KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research was one of the ten individuals who were honoured at the Ten out of Ten (1O/10) Awards held at the House of Lords in the Palace of Westminster, London on 9th September, 2019.

The Ten out of Ten Awards aims at facilitating an important conversation about the intersection that must converge in order to meet the UN targets of globally ending all new HIV diagnosis by 2030.

Environmental Committee meets student leaders

College of Health Sciences Environmental Sustainability Committee held a meeting with student leaders to sensitize them on environmental matters.

The meeting which was chaired by the committee’s chairperson Dr. Mary Kinoti was held at the School of Medicine Boardroom.

Conferences at chsd8club

Charitè-Universitätsmediizin Berlin (CUB) and University of Nairobi (UoN) exchange program is a 1-month fully sponsored research-based elective. It was pioneered by a student in 2016 with 3 cycles since.

The 2018 recipients were: Becky Wanjiku Njuguna, Brian Bundi Nyamweya, Evans Mutia Mutwiri, Mandela Kibiriti Mwangi, Ruth Kwamboka Nyang'aya and Sandra Obaje Maseno.

HIPPOCRATIC OATH BY GRADUATES FROM THE SCHOOL OF DENTAL SCIENCES CLASS 2017

The School of Dental Sciences held its Hippocratic Oath ceremony for the graduates of class 2017 on Friday 17th November 2017 at the School of Dental Sciences.

The oath was administered by Dr. Regina J. Mutave – Dean School of Dental Sciences, to the (20) Bachelor of Dental Surgery students who qualified for the award of Degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery by the University of Nairobi.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery End of Year 4 Examinations

The School of Dental Sciences, Bachelor of Dental Surgery students undertaking their end of 4th year examinations from 27th May 2019 to 7th June 2019.

The School of Dental Sciences has released publications on volume 2 no. 6 of its journal (Africa Journal of Oral Health Sciences).
